Creating Calm During the Holidays
The holiday season can trigger a rollercoaster of emotions and stress, pushing your nervous system into overdrive. Fortunately, your body has a natural “chill button” called the vagus nerve. When activated, it can help you achieve a state of calm, equilibrium, and balance—something most of us are missing during this busy time.
In this live, active workshop (held via Zoom), you will build a toolbox of breathing and movement that allows you to flip your chill button on! Be prepared to move to the music of live crystal singing bowls, learn how to stimulate the vagus nerve through diaphragmatic breathing exercises, engage in body movements specifically designed to awaken the brain-body connection, which lowers stress, anxiety, reduce inflammation, and enhances your mood, find your way to your mat for an active progressive muscle relaxation practice, and find the ultimate space of calm through vagus nerve stimulation auricular acupressure (don’t worry, there are no needles involved, only your hands) over a six-week period.
Each class will be 30 to 45 minutes in length.
Please have a yoga mat and something to sit on if you need extra support. Wear comfortable activewear (preferably no skirts or jeans) and shoes you can easily remove for each practice. Movement modifications will be offered to those who need it. This class is suitable for ages 12 and up.
Two sessions will be held per class. You may attend one session per week. Links will be sent via email 24 hours in advance of each class.
For missed sessions, each workshop will be recorded and sent.
PDF downloads will be provided after each session.
**Each workshop is limited to 100 attendees per event. Space is limited and first come, first served.
